Human Resources
One
of the most important resources that any business has is its staff.
The following programs help utilize the staff effectively and professionally.
Employee Handbooks
Shortly
after purchasing an existing restaurant, the new owner was faced with
legal actions resulting from the employment practices of the former
owner. On the advice of his attorney, Wheelwright Consultants was hired
to prepare a comprehensive employee handbook that would define employment
practices and help prevent future allegations of this nature. Our bi-lingual
consultant translated the manual into Spanish so that all employees
of this operation could read and understand the company’s policies
and procedures.
ADA, Diversity, and Sexual Harassment
Prevention
A contract
services company purchased one of its competitors and during evaluation
of existing management personnel made some inappropriate inquiries of
a personal nature. When one of the managers of the former company was
terminated, he filed a disability-based discrimination claim which was
ultimately resolved in his favor and resulted in the Wheelwright Consultants
being hired to provide ADA Compliance Training for all managers and
supervisors. Our founder, Eric F. Nusbaum has completed Anti-Discrimination
Training with the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and
is on their referral list to provide ADA, General Diversity, and Sexual
Harassment Prevention Training.
Salary and Benefit Studies
An
existing client was faced with a dilemma: he was approaching the date
for the annual review and possible salary adjustment for many of his
employees, but increasing costs were eroding his profit margin and he
was uncertain if he could afford salary and benefit increases. Wheelwright
Consultants provided a study of the salary and benefits of competing
operations which helped him make his decision as to what to do about
salary increases.
